Tuesday, June 29: Seb Marx with Fors
Multi instrumentalist, producer and composer Seb Marx draws on his wide and diverse knowledge of music, combining African and Middle Eastern rhythms and scales with influences from psychedelia and electronica to create a fabulous tapestry of sound. He will play with singer-songwriter Fors, whose extraordinary voice is full of emotion and draws on Arabic, Mediterranean and North African influences and Sufi song. The lyrics of her songs explore her personal stories with honesty and poetry.
Tuesday, July 6: Freshly Cooked Music
Morito Music curator Crispin Forster collaborates with musician Raphael White and cellist Ruby Moore. After studying at the Royal Northern College of music Ruby has enjoyed a diverse career, including performing in award-winning shows such as Rentand Little Women, teaching at the BRIT school, playing with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, to collaborating with groups such as the Lydian Collective and leading the cellos of the Brixton Chamber Orchestra.
Tuesday, July 13: The Song The evening will be a chance to hear some of the new emerging East London talent play with a focus on original song writing and composition, with a variety of performers at each event. The younger performers will be accompanied by a professional house band. This mixture of kids and amateurs is the next creative generation.
Tuesday, July 20: Boom la Tete accoustic trio
Morito Music curator, Crispin Forster, met Stephane Bourquin in 2011 and was immediately bowled over by his skill and agility as a guitarist. He introduced Crispin to his great passion for the music of Django Reinhardt. Inspired by him and his astonishing music, they set about forming a band that combines swing, gypsy music, rock'n roll and our own original tunes. The mix proved infectious and the band attracted some seriously talented musicians to play bass and drums. Boom la Tete enjoys a reputation for exhilarating performances and have travelled all over Europe as well as performing regularly in London. The chemistry in the band is clear and Morito will be a great opportunity to witness this in a more intimate and acoustic setting.
